SHABBAT SERVICES:

Shabbat Services at Congregation Beth Shalom are a lively celebration of life and proud Jewish identity.  We invite everyone to join us in praise of God, study of the holy Torah, and connecting with our Jewish heritage and Jews all over the world through reciting ancient, traditional Hebrew prayers.  Our Services are a blend of Hebrew, English, explanations, songs, meditations and teachings. All of our Siddurim (prayer books) include complete modern English translations and transliterations (the Hebrew text written out in English)

Friday night Services are a blend of Reform and Conservative movement approaches and melodies.  Services are one hour long and include a short relevant Drash (teaching).  Musical accompaniment in the form of a guitar or piano is often part of our Friday evening worship Services.  We use the Chaverim Kol Yisrael siddur published by K'tav which includes a complete traditional Service, translations, transliterations, extensive commentary, and various additional songs.  Services are always followed by Kiddush, Oneg (refreshments) and an opportunity for socializing.  Please join us at 7:00 p.m. on Friday Nights and at
6:30 p.m. every Friday Night
during the Month of November.

Our Shabbat morning Services are more traditional.  We use the new Sim Shalom Siddur published by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.  Every week we chant from the Torah as we explore the weekly Parshah (portion) and then we have a lively discussion on its many levels of meaning.  Services are always followed by Kiddush and lunch.  We invite you to join us at 10:00 a.m. and we welcome your participation and Service Leadership:  contact our Ritual Committee to schedule a Service that you would like to lead, a Torah reading that you would like to chant, or a Torah discussion that you would like to offer.
